Breakthroughs in Education: Make Building Stones Out of Stumbling Blocks

The Emporium of Dangerous Ideas: Shifting the Axis

The annual ferstival is Scotland’s most innovative and ground-breaking education event aimed at everyone who is passionate about education.

This presentation covered various facets of what is research personally, how and what brought me to the point of a researcher, provided an overview of my research, ‘Stonemasonry Skills Development: Two Case Studies of Historic Buildings in Scotland’, how it differs from education, various research inventions/innovations made in the world so far (various examples of innovation to be proud of), the role of personal skills development, how creativity can be fostered in individuals, and to organisations, why FE though inherently good at education, is not so good at research and why FE needs research to succeed.
